Aarja Health vitamin D supplement with lingonberry in chewable tablet form has a great effect for many

Aarja Health Vitamin D3 in chewable tablet form is packed full of natural high-quality and highly bioavailable D3 with Nordic lingonberries. This combination makes it an ideal choice for you who want an easy way to increase your all-important vitamin D intake and thus create the right conditions for your future health. An interesting study that supports this is from the Swedish Food Agency, which showed that 9 out of 10 children and 7 out of 10 adults had an estimated vitamin D intake from food below the average requirement of 7.5 micrograms per day.

Vitamin D was first discovered in fish, especially in cod liver oil, and is a hormone that regulates the calcium balance in bones and teeth. The total intake of vitamin D is the sum of what we get through food ( fish, meat, eggs and milk) and the vitamin D that forms in the skin when we are out in the sun. The most common form of vitamin D is D3, which is also used to enrich food fats and milk.

Lack of Vitamin D is a health problem

Lack of vitamin D is classified as a common health problem in northern Europe, especially during the winter period. There are several factors that can lead to a lack of vitamin D, such as reduced sun exposure, increasing age, full-covering clothing, not eating fish and other vitamin D-enriched diets, and vegetarians and vegans. But it is also common for children, especially infants and toddlers, to not have sufficient levels of vitamin D. Lack of vitamin D can lead to negative health effects such as stress, depression, cancer, memory disorders, reduced muscle strength and osteoporosis.

A theory that further highlights the importance of vitamin D is about Eskimos in Greenland and how they compensated for the lack of sunlight with a diet consisting mostly of marine food with a high content of vitamin D. While Vikings who previously lived there are considered to have died out partly dependent on lack of the vitamin as they farmed the land instead of fishing. Evidence in favor of the theory is remains showing shrinking average height, reduced brain size, rickets, osteoporosis and muscle atrophy. All associated with vitamin D deficiency.

It has been shown that vitamin D can protect against morbidity and mortality in patients who have contracted covid-19. Vitamin D also has an important and positive impact on performance in athletes by increasing and improving muscle strength and muscle fibers. Vitamin D and testosterone also have a positive relationship for training purposes, since the function of testosterone is to recover and repair the muscles after a completed training session.

What does the research say?

• There is convincing evidence that vitamin D in combination with calcium has a protective effect on bone health and reduces the risk of premature death and falls in the elderly, especially in people with low vitamin D status.

• Studies indicate that vitamin D reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, colon and rectal cancer and breast cancer and improves muscle strength in people with low vitamin D status.

• For the elderly over 75, the recommended intake has been raised mainly because of the scientifically proven reduced risk of mortality, fractures and falls. Falls are the most common cause of injury in older people.

• There are new studies that show that people living in the Nordic countries need to get more vitamin D in order to maintain a sufficient level of vitamin D in the blood even during the winter.

• Studies show that supplementation of vitamin D reduced the incidence of respiratory tract infection and that the course of the disease was shortened.
